Caravan pitch with electricity – comfort and flexibility
Our most popular solution for motorhome owners is the touring caravan pitch with an electrical hook-up. The pitches are spacious – approximately 10 x 12 metres – giving ample room for the motorhome, car, and an outdoor area with an awning and chairs. The pitches are situated on flat, well-prepared terraces that allow for easy entry and exit, something you'll appreciate after a long drive.
We also have the capacity to accept lorries and trailers, up to 19 metres in length.
With electricity available directly at the vehicle, you can keep your fridge and electronics running, warm up the motorhome on cool evenings, and charge everything you need for the next day's adventures. All campsite facilities are included in the price.

Exclusive waterside motorhome pitch – for that little bit extra
For the very best experience, our exclusive pitches by the river and Lake Tinnsjøen are something special. These hand-picked spots offer you immediate proximity to the water, panoramic views of Lake Tinnsjøen and the surrounding mountains – and a peace and quiet that is hard to find elsewhere. Here, you can truly open the door of your motorhome in the morning and take in the spectacular sight with your morning coffee in hand.
The pitches are equipped with electricity and a private patio. There is also a fire pit with a barbecue grill, an outdoor table and chairs, and you have full access to all communal facilities. A natural choice for those who value location and desire an exceptional stay.

One of the most important factors for a good motorhome experience is access to the right facilities. We have placed great emphasis on providing motorhome users with everything they need for a hassle-free stay.
Emptying station and fresh water
For those with motorhome waste disposal and cassette toilets, access to a disposal station is crucial. Sandviken Camping has a motorhome toilet disposal station available on-site, in addition to refilling with fresh drinking water. This means you can empty and refill with the best fresh water – directly from the source in Tinn.
Modern sanitary facilities
Our sanitary facilities are of a high standard with clean and warm showers, family rooms and a washing machine. The showers are free with hot water, and the facility is cleaned daily. The newest service building from 2010 is built with universal design and threshold-free entrances. Laundry can be arranged via reception, and we have a drying room for equipment after a long day in the mountains.

Cooking in a small campervan can sometimes feel cramped. Our spacious guest kitchen, open 24 hours a day, is equipped with ovens, a microwave and a dishwasher – meaning you can take your cooking out of the vehicle and prepare proper meals in social surroundings. Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is by 12:00. Arrivals outside of opening hours are easily arranged – contact us in advance and we’ll ensure everything is ready for you upon arrival.

Gaustatoppen (1883m) – Norway's most beautiful mountain and one of the country's most visited tourist destinations. In summer and autumn, you can park your motorhome with us and take a day trip to the summit, from where you can see one-sixth of Norway on clear days.
Hardangervidda Northern Europe's largest mountain plateau is right on your doorstep. Here, you'll find endless opportunities for hiking, fishing, wild reindeer safaris, and – in winter – cross-country skiing on the mountain plains.
Rjukan and Vemork – A half-hour drive away you'll find Rjukan, one of Norway's most fascinating towns. The Vemork Museum tells the story of the heavy water sabotage during World War II, and the entire area is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. A must for history buffs.
Climbing in Rjukan – World-renowned for its ice-climbing routes in winter and solid climbing crags the rest of the year. Rjukan is an international climbing destination that attracts enthusiasts from all over Europe.

During summer and autumn, a bathing beach with crystal-clear water, a water trampoline and a jetty are offered right by the campsite. You can rent a rowing boat or kayak and paddle out onto Lake Tinnsjø, try your luck fishing for large trout, or have a refreshing swim in the lake's fresh water. A mini-golf course, volleyball court and disc golf in Tessungdalen offer variety if you're looking for something active but more relaxed than a mountain hike.
All year round, you can warm yourself in Ismåne, our wood-fired sauna with a panoramic window directly overlooking Lake Tinnsjø – an experience that's hard to beat after a day out in nature. In winter, Hardangervidda is an eldorado for cross-country skiing, kite-surfing, and winter adventures, while Rjukan's ice walls attract climbers from far and wide.

In 2024, we cut greenhouse gas emissions by 15 %and energy consumption by 5 % . We use local and regionally sourced produce in our café, grow our own herbs in the greenhouse, and actively work to phase out unnecessary plastic and reduce waste. Disposable barbecues are forbidden throughout the site – instead, we offer fire pits and sell locally sourced firewood from our own forest. Every year, we publish a climate and environmental report that shows concrete goals and results.

Sandviken Camping is located at the northern end of Lake Tinnsjø, halfway between Oslo and Bergen – approximately 2.5 hours from Oslo. It is easy to reach us by motorhome via national road 37 from Rjukan or via Numedal. The site has a spacious entrance, making arrival and departure hassle-free. The nearest grocery store is Kiwi Austbygd, just 1 km away, with Austbygde Bakeri located nearby. For local food of exceptional quality, visit Stordalen Gardsbruk for brown cheese, described as the world's best, or Eggerud and Midtgard Gård for honey from Austbygde.
Important for motorhome owners: We recommend driving via Gransherad instead of Hovin-bakken, as Gransherad is wider and smoother, and far better suited for large vehicles.
