The gathering point that never goes out of style
When the sun sets behind the blue mountains in Tinn, the bonfires are lit all around Sandviken. For us, the fire is the very symbol of peace and community. We've equipped all our cabins with their own fire pits, so you can create your own cosy base right outside the door. This is where the best stories are told, and this is where the stresses of everyday life disappear as the flames dance.
We are particularly proud to be able to offer locally sourced wood from our own forest. Wood that has been cut, split and dried by the Fagerberg family themselves carries with it a piece of Sandviken's soul. You can buy nice, dry bags of firewood in our café or reception, so you're guaranteed a fire that burns well and creates the right atmosphere. By using our own firewood, you also support our philosophy as an Eco-Lighthouse - sustainable cosiness in practice.
Food tastes best outdoors
Grilling at Sandviken is about more than just sausages. With griddles and grills on the fire pans, the only limit is your imagination. Perhaps you want to fry the day's self-caught trout from Lake Tinnsjøen, bake stick bread with the kids, or try your hand at a proper «cowboy breakfast» with eggs and bacon in a cast-iron frying pan while the morning fog lifts from the water? For those who prefer traditional barbecues, we also have dedicated areas by the beach and communal areas.
Safety and campfire etiquette
We want everyone to enjoy themselves safely around the campfire. We always follow the national and local guidelines for bonfires.
- Location: Always use the designated fire pits or permanent barbecue areas to protect the ground and nature.
- Extinguishing: Make sure the fire is completely extinguished before going to bed or leaving the site. Water points are easily accessible throughout the site.
- By: We encourage you to use your own firewood rather than collecting twigs at the edge of the forest, as this preserves the biodiversity in our hiking areas.
