How to find your way to Sandviken
Sandviken Camping is idyllically located at the northern end of Lake Tinnsjøen, midway between Oslo and Bergen. Whether you arrive by motorbike over the winding Hovin slopes or by caravan via Gransherad, beautiful nature experiences await you along the entire route.
Drive to Kongsberg and follow national road 40 towards Jondalen. At the Ormemyrkrysset junction you have two exciting choices:
Via Hovin: The shortest route for cars and a dream for motorcyclists! The road is winding, bumpy and very charming.
Via Gransherad: We recommend this route for those with a motorhome or caravan. It takes about 10-15 minutes longer, but is significantly wider and smoother.
This is one of our most beautiful mountain roads, with an asphalt surface that is ideal for both motorhomes and caravans. The nature above Imingfjell is simply a paradise! Here you can also walk historic hiking trails such as Nordmannsslepa. NB! The road is closed in winter.
A great alternative on a gravel road over the mountains. Remember to pay road tax! We recommend a stop at Kitten carriage - The view here is magical, and there are superb blueberry opportunities in the autumn. From here there's also a great family trip to Daggrøhytta (DNT). NB! The road is closed in winter.
Follow national road 37 along Tinnsjøen. On the way you should stop at Heddal Stave Church, Norway's largest stave church. Along Tinnsjøveien you'll also find the memorial to the famous act of sabotage against D/F Hydro, which now rests at the bottom of the lake.
Follow national road 37 eastwards. Experience the dramatic contrast as you drive from the narrow Vestfjord valley into the open, sunny landscape of Tinn Austbygd.
Electric cars and charging
We support the green shift and offer charging options in the car park:
Charging at the campsite: We have EV chargers connected to the app Loading part. You must use your own cable (power 7.4 kW). The price follows the spot price.
Fast charging in the city centre: Just 1 km away (at Kiwi) you'll find Eviny fast chargers (2 CCS units up to 180 kW).
Public transport
We live in a district with limited public transport options and therefore recommend coming by car. The nearest bus stop is right next to our driveway. Search for Austbygde (Tinn) on farte.no.
