Lake Tinnsjøen - an adventure below the surface

Did you know that Lake Tinnsjøen is Europe's third deepest lake? At 460 metres, it's actually as deep as the surrounding mountains are high. This enormous reservoir offers crystal clear water and rich fishing for both mountain trout and char. At Sandviken, we live in harmony with the lake, and we're happy to share our local knowledge to ensure you have a safe and fulfilling day on the water.

For fishing enthusiasts, Tinnsjøen is unique because fishing is permitted all year round. However, we are proud stewards of nature and would like to remind you that Austbygdeåe is closed to all fishing from 15 September to 31 December (including a 100-metre zone out into the water). We also have an important catch restriction: In order to increase the population of large trout, it is not permitted to kill fish over 50 cm. We sell fishing licences directly in the café, both for Tinnsjøen and for the idyllic mountain lakes in Skirvedalen.

Rental for all tastes

You don't need to own a boat to enjoy the sea. We hire out rowing boats, canoes, kayaks and SUP boards to both guests and day visitors.

• Tour tips: In the summer, the wind tends to pick up during the day. We therefore recommend a trip in the morning or evening when the water is often calm.
• Equipment: Life jackets are included in the hire (can also be hired separately for SEK 25). We also rent out fishing rods with lures for those who want to try their luck spontaneously.
• Your own boat? We have our own boat slip where you can launch your own boat for a small fee.
• Mark: Do you need bait? We have a compost heap at the centre of the site where you can freely dig for worms, otherwise this is sold at Atrå Handelslag.
