A magical combination of heat and water
Ismåne is not just a sauna; it's the result of a passion for tradition and well-being. The sauna barrel is a UteSauna XL Ikon 1, which was installed in January 2024 after the previous one was unfortunately lost in a fire. The new model is more spacious and equipped with a large panoramic window that blurs the distinction between the cosy warmth inside and the raw, beautiful nature outside. Sitting here, you can look out over Lake Tinn stretching to the horizon, while the wood-burning stove - fed with birch wood from our own forest - provides a deep and cosy warmth that loosens stiff muscles after a day in the mountains.
The sauna takes its name from the magical «Ice Moon» that lit up the sky during the very first inauguration. Since then, Ismåne has been a focal point for both guests and local year-round bathers. The Norwegian bathing culture is experiencing a renaissance, and as a proud member of the Norwegian Bathing Guild, we want to offer a low-threshold and inclusive experience. Here, you can control the temperature yourself by adding more wood, and we always preheat the barrel for you so that it's nice and warm when you arrive.
Year-round swimming and refreshing contrasts
It's in the contrasts that the greatest experiences lie. We've created a slope and stairs all the way down to the water's edge, so you can easily combine a sauna with a refreshing dip. As Tinnsjøen is a regulated lake, the water level and the path down to the water will vary by up to four metres throughout the year - an exciting reminder of the forces of nature that surround us. For those who really want to feel alive, we recommend joining the Facebook group for our local year-round swimmers, where the community and the joy of a cold bath are in focus all year round.
